Mr. Homer Cleveland Roseman, 91, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Sharon Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Jim Strickland. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service and burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday night from 5:00-7:00 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Homer was born on January 23, 1926 in Concord, NC to the late CW and Ann Yost Roseman. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Drye Roseman; son, Jeff A Roseman; brothers, James P. Roseman, Glenn M. Roseman; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Roseman.
Homer was a Charter Member of Sharon Baptist Church where he also was a Trustee and a Deacon. He was a Corporal in the US Army during WWII. Serving in Europe under General George Patton, he participated in the campaigns of Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Germany Occupation Medal, American Theater Service Medal, 3 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He served active duty from 1944-1946, then continued in the Army Reserves until 1949.
He is survived by his daughter, Valerie R. Blanchard and husband, Jerry; son, Chris A. Roseman, Sr.; sister, Phyllis R. Coble; grandchildren, Chris A. Roseman, Jr. and wife, Lauren.
