Mrs. Helen Joyce King Rivenbark, age 76 of Concord and Charleston, SC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Atrium Health Main.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm Sunday, July 2 at Community Church of Mt. Pleasant. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 3 pm with Pastor David Snow and Pastor Jason Shive officiating. She will then be laid to rest at Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust.
Helen was born September 14, 1946 in Horry County, SC, and was the daughter of the late Richard Olin and Gladys Britt King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julius Ray Rivenbark, Jr. and siblings, Ann Ott, Margaret Rabon, Linda Faye King, James King, and Billy King.
Helen had a servant’s heart, and she used that gift by helping those in need in her community, or just being there for others. She loved cooking and attending her church. God, family, friends, and church were her priorities in life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by so many who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Douglas L. “Dale” Foley of Charleston, SC and Peggy Thompson and husband, Tony of Concord; granddaughter, Gabrielle H. Foley and great-grandson, Thomas D. Tapio of Charleston, SC; sisters, Edna Martin and husband, Roy of Barnwell, SC, and Lois Chestnut and husband, Lenwood of Conway, SC; step-son, Ray Rivenbark, III and wife, Amy and their family; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Helen will also be missed immensely by her precious canine baby, Lilly.
