Helen Mastrianni

November 15, 1925 — July 7, 2016

Mrs. Helen Farrell Mastrianni, 90, passed away at home on Thursday, July 7, 2016, surrounded by her family. Helen was born on November 15, 1925 in Stillwater, NY to the late William and Beatrice Nolan Farrell.
She was a 1943 graduate of Mechanicville High School, and graduated Cum Laude from The College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. in 1947. She received her Masters of Arts from New York State Teachers College in 1950, and taught high school algebra, plane geometry, business arithmetic, English and Spanish, before her marriage in 1953. Helen was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church where she served on the Lady’s Guild. She also enjoyed volunteering with Cooperative Christian Ministries. Family was the most important thing to Helen and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and their many friends throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Joseph Mastrianni; daughter, MaryAnne Mastrianni; son, Edward Mastrianni; sisters, Betty and Mary and brother, William.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Mastrianni, Jr. (Carol) of Poughkeepsie, NY, William Mastrianni of Summerville, SC, Anthony Mastrianni (Tish) of Hillsborough, NC; daughters, Meg Sawicki (Tom) of Davidson, NC, Theresa Bennett of Charlotte; grandchildren, Christina Rieling (Jason), Jennifer Sawicki, Allison Dodson (Ethan), Katelin Sawicki, Carmela and Michael Mastrianni, Katherine and Jeff Bennett; great-grandchildren, Monroe V. Carter, Jeter M. Rieling.
A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, officiated by Father Charles. The family will receive friends from 10:00am-11:00am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. James Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cooperative Christian Ministries, 246 Country Club Drive, Concord, NC.
