Mr. Harry Mickey Irby, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Monday, April 11, 2016 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev.’s T.C. Plexico and Ray Sipe. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-3 prior to the service.
Mickey was born on August 18, 1929 in Kannapolis to the late William and Geneva Hallman Irby. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Burris Irby; sisters, Katherine Christopher, Louise Irby; brothers, Bill, Buddy, Earl, and Jerry Irby.
Mickey is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Korean Conflict, and also was a longtime member of St. Martin Lutheran Church. He retired from Cannon Mills as a welder after 44 years, owned and operated Irby's Antiques with his wife, Peggy.
He is survived by his sons, Chip Irby and wife, Tina of Charlotte, Scott Irby and wife Kim of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Janice Evans; grandchildren, Jacob Irby, Peyton Irby, and Kailey England.
