Mr. Glenn Max Weant, age 88, passed away peacefully Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends at 2:30 PM Monday at New Gilead Reformed Church with a funeral service to follow at 4 PM Monday with Rev. Robert Palisin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at New Gilead Church cemetery.
Glenn was born November 2, 1929 in Rowan County, a son of the late Marvin David Weant and Lola Brown Weant. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty G. Weant in 2013. He was a retired Automotive Mechanics teacher in the Cabarrus County school system, and a Master Mechanic working for the North Carolina Dept of Transportation. Glenn was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean War and a member of New Gilead Reformed Church. He was a good friend and neighbor in the New Gilead community.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Cairnes (Rick) of Douglasville, GA; sons, David Weant (Shelia) of Concord and Paul Weant (Denise) of Gastonia; grandchildren, Ashley Nunn (Brian), Brian Weant (Mary Kate), Amber Sain (Karl) and Blake Cairnes; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Marvin Weant (Betty) of Salisbury; sister, Lucille Ketchie of Athens, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Trinity Oaks of Salisbury for their love and care of Glenn.
