Gladys Williams Furr

Gladys Williams Furr, age 88, of Concord, died Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Atrium Health - Cabarrus. Born October 16, 1933 in Concord, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Hector Williams and Pearl Mae Tucker Williams. Gladys graduated from Hartsell High School in 1952. Following graduation, she became a telephone operator with Southern Bell, until she married her soulmate, Lewis Kenneth Furr, on December 19, 1953. They immediately started their family and Gladys became a devoted homemaker. When their children were through elementary school, she started working at Belk, where she became supervisor of the Bridal Department. Gladys joined her daughter, Kim at Rowan Technical School and both earned an Associate Degree in Early Child Development. She became a Teacher Assistant at McGill Child Development. Gladys was raised in the First Church of God and was a member of the former Branchview First Church of God.

Due to Gladys' extended illness and covid precautions, there will be no public viewing or visitation. A private service will be held for the immediate family.

Survivors include three daughters, Patti Furr of Charlotte, Debbie Wiseman of Concord and Kim Dennis (Terry) of Concord; grandson, Courtney Wiseman; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved fur children, Oliver, Toby, Brody and Kenzie. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ken; a brother, David Williams; and a sister, Helen Hartsell.
