On October 2, 2023, the world lost a remarkable soul, Mrs. Gladys Loretta Everhart Eudy, who passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 88 in her Oakboro home. Gladys, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, left behind a legacy of warmth, love, and passion.
A graveside service to celebrate Gladys's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Stanly Gardens of Memory. The service will be officiated by Larry Eudy, and following the service, the family will greet friends, sharing stories and memories of their beloved Gladys.
Gladys was born on May 22, 1935, in Montgomery County, to the late Dovie Loflin Everhart and Fred Everhart. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin H. Eudy, sisters, Sylvia Hunsucker, Margie Whitley, and Allene Gallimore, as well as her brothers, Dewey Everhart, Richard Everhart, and Rudolph Everhart.
Gladys lived her life with a fervent passion for cooking, especially for her family. Her culinary creations were a source of joy and comfort for all who were fortunate enough to taste her delicious dishes. She also found solace and delight in fishing whenever she could, and her nimble fingers worked wonders in the art of sewing. She had a deep passion for gardening and cooking, which are wonderful ways to leave a lasting legacy. The love she put into her garden will continue to flourish in the memories of those who knew her. She grew her own vegetables up until she passed away this week!
Gladys is survived by her loving son, Rodney Eudy, and fiancée Lisa Furr of Oakboro, NC, and her cherished granddaughter, Jessica Thompson and husband, Phillip of Clover, SC, and cherished grandson, Joseph Eudy of Oakboro, NC. The love and devotion she shared with her family will be a guiding light in their lives.
Gladys Loretta Everhart Eudy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, warmth, and zest for life endeared her to everyone she met. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared. She has now found eternal peace, and is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
