Mrs. Geneva Grubbs Bowles, 94, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at McGill Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Steve Ayers. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-3 prior to the service.
Geneva was born on December 11, 1921 in Mocksville, NC to the late Dodson and Annie Heath Grubbs. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Bowles; daughter-in law Mary Bowles; as well as 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
After moving to Concord in 1947, Paul and Geneva became active in their community and church at McGill Baptist where she enjoyed participating in the choir, handbells, and the Joy Club. She had many wonderful talents including cooking, needle crafts, writing and gardening. Geneva was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother dedicating her life to caring for her family. Geneva took great comfort in her many friendships and family members.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Betsy Karas and husband Steve of Concord; son, David Bowles of Concord; grandsons, Patrick Bowles, John Roberts, and Matthew Karas; a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving families members and beloved friends.
