His years in the military had him stationed in various parts of the globe. Living in Maine, Massachusetts, Ohio, California, Virginia, Texas and Florida and finally North Carolina. He also resided in the Philippines and Germany. Living abroad gave him many opportunities to travel and see Europe and Asia.

While in the Philippines he became a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. In Germany, he was elected the grandmaster of the Bavarian Masonic Lodge. Continuing attending meetings until his passing.

After retiring from AAFES Gary moved to Ellenton Florida where he went to work for Professional Standards-ICE Unit with the Manatee Sheriff's office. Gary retired as a deputy in 2005.

Gary's hobbies were as rich and varied as his professional life. In his younger years, he loved bowling and playing guitar. He obtained his pilot’s license in 1968– where he took to the skies for fun and later in 1984 as an instructor. Gary usually had a camera or video camera in his hands to document all the fun memories and trips that he and his family went on. His passion for golf was more than a pastime. He spent countless hours trying to perfect his game. He even created a birdie dance to celebrate.

Gary always enjoyed traveling and after getting a second chance at love with Angela Bridges they traveled to places far and wide. They spent countless hours on the Golf course enjoying each other and their love of the game and each other.

Gary leaves behind countless friends and family. All who would agree was the best of the best.

He'll be greatly missed by all who encountered his goodness, received his friendship, and were lucky enough to share in his time and humor.
