Fred Phillips

June 7, 1934 — January 29, 2021

God granted Fred Clark Phillips the desire of his heart to go and be with his loving Jesus and to see his loving wife, Sarah again on Friday, January 29, 2021. He lived in Rockwell.

A service of celebration will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2 pm at Homestead Baptist Church in Kannapolis, with Pastor Mitch Thomas and Pastor Stephen Parker officiating.

Mr. Phillips was born June 7, 1934 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Albert and Willene Nesbitt Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Sinclair Phillips, and 3 siblings.

Fred retired from Cone Mills after 25 years of service and served in the Army National Guard. He was an honorary member of Homestead Baptist Church and he loved to witness and tell others about his Jesus. He loved to visit folks in the nursing homes, he enjoyed going to hockey games with his family, watching NASCAR and Tarheel sports. Fred’s quiet time would be spent on the front porch watching traffic with his Pekingese, Roscoe. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, who will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Anita Frick and husband, John of Rockwell, and Rena Jenkins of Salisbury; son, Bobby Phillips and wife, Terri of Statesville; grandchildren, Justin, Nate and Olivia Phillips, and Joseph Jenkins; 5 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Bonta Kee of Concord; brother, Nesbitt Phillips of Monroe; nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
