CONCORD- Mr. Frank Donald “Don” Moody passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his home.
His funeral will be 1 PM Monday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Randy Wall. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with honors by Concord Fire Department Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 PM Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Known simply as Don by friends and family, this was a man who loved his family, his church, his country, and his community. Don was born in Concord on August 26, 1927 to the late Dwight L. Moody and Mary Overcash Moody. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, and his granddaughter, Katherine Moody.
As a young man, he served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Married to Dorothy Mauldin of Albemarle in 1951, the couple made their home in Concord where they raised two sons. Don joined the Concord Fire Department where he served his community for more than 30 years, retiring as assistant chief. He was active at Ann Street United Methodist Church in many capacities through the years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Moody; sons, Jeff Moody and wife Alice of Kannapolis, and Roger Moody of Concord; and grandson, Joseph Moody of Kannapolis.
