Katherine met her husband Charles when he was playing Professional Baseball for the Concord Weavers. They married and moved to NY where she lived until moving home to Concord in 1974. She was a member of Trinity UCC where she worked the hotdog sales to retire their mortgage debt. She then transferred to Saint James Reformed Church in Mount Pleasant. Katherine worked as a chair side assistant for Dr. Patterson, then Dr. Morgan. Katherine was a staunch Atlanta Braves Fan and would yell at the TV whenever they got a bad call. Her grandchildren were her life.

Vartanian and Amanda of Chapin, SC; great grandchildren Avery and Logan Vartanian, and Edison Dills; sister June C.
