Foster Cuthbertson Bunn Jr., 100, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House. F.C. was born September 22, 1916, in Concord, to the late Foster Cuthbertson Bunn and Myrtle Suther Bunn. He was educated in Concord City Schools and at Brevard College and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II aboard the U.S.S. Bryant. He later worked at Fuller Supply Company in Concord, serving as president until he retired. He was married to Lucille Ballard Bunn until her passing in 1993. He and Lucille had one daughter, Anne. He was married to his second wife, Helen Edwards Bunn, until her passing in 2015.
His daughter and grandchildren were the joys of his life, and his first great grandchild is due on what would have been his 101st birthday. He also loved fishing and golf and traveled the world to play the latter, often in tournaments. He led a full, vibrant life all of his years, even playing a round of golf with his grandchildren on his 100th birthday, which led some to remark that he might end up being the last surviving veteran of WWII (and possibly WWIII).
F.C. is survived by his daughter, Anne Propst and husband, David, of Concord and three grandchildren, Corey Lafferty and wife, Ashley, of Herndon, VA; Alison Clougherty and husband, Patrick, of Nashville, TN; and Nathan Propst and fiancée, Emily Vanderburg, of Concord.
The family will receive guests in the Forest Hill Methodist Church parlor on Monday, June 19, at 1PM. The service celebrating 100 years of a wonderful life will follow at 2PM. Following the ceremony, the burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery for family only.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Forest Hill Methodist Church, 265 Union Street N, Concord, NC 28025.
