Evelyn Staton Pare was called into the presence of her Lord on May 20, 2023. Evelyn was born in Anson County NC on April 10, 1921. She moved to Concord as a girl when her father Harmon Staton and mother Addie Cauble Staton chose to relocate so her father could work for Cannon Mills. In 1939 she married Johnny Pare a professional baseball player for the Concord Weavers. For many years they moved to several towns. When his professional baseball ended, they moved to Concord, NC. In Concord she worked in various jobs while maintaining a household of young children. She loved sports, especially baseball, and in later years followed the Atlanta Braves.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband John G. Pare, and daughters Janet Pare and Carol Pare Arrowood and her parents, Harmon Staton and Addie Cauble Staton. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Lonnie Staton,
Benton Staton, Glen Staton, Alice Staton Ballard, Allen Staton, and Gene Staton. She has three surviving children, Ronald Pare and wife Emily of Concord NC,
Phil Pare and wife Cathy of Wilmington NC, Alisa Pare Snider and husband Steve of Easley SC. also, son- in- law Bruce Arrowood of Concord NC. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. Evelyn was a member of McGill Baptist Church and was very active in church activities for many years. She was a devout Christian who loved her church, family and friends. Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 40: 29-31.
The family will hold a private burial service at Carolina Memorial Park where Evelyn will be laid to rest beside her beloved baseball player. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor, conducted by Dr. Steve Ayers at McGill Baptist Church on Friday May 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Visitation to follow.
