Mrs. Eva Mae Dishman Watts, 98, of Kannapolis, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Glen A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Wilkinson Funeral Home chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Barrett and Rev. Keith Navey, with burial to follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Eva Mae was born on July 22, 1923 in Rowan Co. to the late Nancy Robinette Dishman and James Dishman. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Glenn Watts; brother, Tommy Dishman; 2 infant sisters.
Eva Mae was a 1941 graduate of Landis High School and absolutely loved being with her family. She enjoyed making jelly, chicken salad, and vegetable soup for the extended family as much as possible. Making and selling fruitcakes at Christmas time was another one her of her favorite pastimes. Eva Mae had a nightly meeting where she would say goodnight to her daughter’s dog, Banjo. She was also a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Norwood and attended Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Concord.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Sue Watts Query; grandson, Jimmy Barrett and wife, Rhonda; brother, Jim Dishman and wife, Jennie; great-grandchildren, David Barrett and wife Kristin, Caleb Barrett and wife Allison, Malia Barrett, Tinzee Barrett; great-great-grandchildren, Asa Barrett, Cyleigh Barrett and two on the way; a number of nieces nephews, and cousins.
