Mr. Eugene "Gene" Yow Suther, 90, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Atrium Health-Cabarrus. His peaceful departure marks the end of a life filled with dedication, love, and cherished memories.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Gene's life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at New Gilead Reformed Church. Reverend Larry Bolick will officiate the service, and following the service, Gene will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, providing an opportunity for those who knew and loved Gene to gather and offer their condolences.
The family requests that you dress casually for the service due to the heat.
Gene was born on January 13, 1933, in Concord, to the late Fanny Earnhardt Suther and Edgar L. Suther. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Isenhour Suther, as well as his brothers, Rush Suther, Fred Suther, Ray Suther, Trim Suther, Robert Suther, and his sisters, Evelyn Shinn and Ruby Goodman.
Gene attended Winecoff High School and was deeply rooted in faith and was a dedicated and faithful member of New Gilead Reformed Church. He held various important roles within the church community, showcasing his commitment to his spiritual journey.
In his professional life, Gene worked as a welder for Pneumafil Corporation for many years, displaying his skill and dedication in his chosen field. After retiring, Gene continued to use his welding skills in his shop, tinkering with different items and helping family and friends.
Gene leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce S. Suther and Nancy Thomason all of Concord, as well as his son, Ryan Suther and wife, Jennifer, of St. Louis, MO. Gene's memory will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Randy Thomason Jr., Duane Burris(Kristin), and Hank Burris-Broin(Ayrick Broin-Burris), as well as his great-grandchildren, Abigail, Dylan, Eli, Rylee, Alex, Jeremiah, Jaymon, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In this time of loss, we remember the life of Mr. Eugene "Gene" Yow Suther, a dedicated veteran, a faithful church member, and a beloved family man. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
