Mrs. Juanita Sherrill Blackwelder, 90, of Concord, passed away on Sunday, April 18th, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Friendship Southern Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Jesse Watkins, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, prior to the service at church.
Juanita was born on February 26, 1931 in Concord, NC to the late John C. and Virginia Driggers Sherrill, Sr.. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Sherrill.
Juanita played basketball for four years while attending and graduating from Hartsell High School then went on to graduate from Evans Business College. She worked for many years as an executive assistant at Cannon Mills. Juanita, along with her husband, owned the Harrisburg License Plate agency for 17 years. Her favorite things were: shopping, socializing, and spending as much time as possible with her family, especially the great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Charlie Eugene Blackwelder; daughter, Shelia Camp and husband John; son, Chip Blackwelder and wife Ann; sister, Nancy “Geri” Furr and husband Arnold; brother, John C. Sherrill, Jr. and wife Jean; grandchildren, Kellie Miller and husband Stephen, Katherine Clymer and husband Tommy, Jonathan Camp and wife Michelle, Elizabeth Camp and fiancé Daniel McCarthy; great-grandchildren, Harrison Miller, Averie Miller, Charlie Miller, Delia Clymer, and Reagan Camp.
