Ethel Gwyn Wyant, 88, went to her heavenly home Saturday, May 1, 2021. Ethel was born in Concord July 28, 1932 to Samuel and Rena Gwyn.
The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8 followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park immediately following.
She was a graduate of Hartsell High School. In February of 1951, Ethel was swept off her feet by the love of her life, Ray W. Wyant. They were married 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wyant, son, Rodney Dean Wyant, mother and father, Samuel and Rena, siblings, Mary Stewart, Dee Oglseby and James Gwyn, and a special canine companion, Trixie.
Ethel loved cooking for her family and shopping with her sister, Mary, and serving the Lord. She led a righteous life, always putting God first. She was a valued member of Branchview Church of God where she participated in the choir; in earlier years at the Nazarene Church in Kannapolis, helped in the youth program and taught Sunday school. She recently became a member of Hope Chapel where her immediate family attends. Ethel’s love for Christ and caring nature will be dearly missed by loved ones and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Carpenter (Kent); 3 grandchildren, Christy Johnson (Tim), Richie Poston (Paige), Jennifer Kinsey (Thomas); great grandson, Ryan Johnson; 2 step-grandchildren, Alora Smith (Dakota), Zach Carpenter; numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends, Nancy Verble and Charlotte Ohsowski.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Hope Chapel Youth (1945 Old Earnhardt Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083), where grandson Richie and wife, Paige are youth ministers.
