Ernest Mcdonald

Mr. Ernest Leonard McDonald, Jr. age 76, of Concord, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Tucker Hospice House on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

The family will receive friends at Wilkinson Funeral Home on Monday, April 17 from 9 to 11 am. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 11 am with Rev. Allen McDaniel officiating. He will be laid to rest at West Concord Cemetery.

Ernest was born January 2, 1947 in Cabarrus County and was the son of the late Ernest L. McDonald, Sr and Geraldine Furr McDonald. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Hooks McDonald, son, Brian McDonald, and brother, Eddie McDonald.

Ernest retired from Cannon Mills, and later from Perdue Chicken as a security guard. He was an expert handyman and mechanic. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Dianne Cush and husband, Dennis of Concord, and Stephanie Tucker and husband, Michael of Kannapolis; six grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Hoggard, and Ramona Kellis and husband, Ray; brother, Gary McDonald and wife, Sybil; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
