Ellen Rush of Concord passed away on June 30 at the age of 81.
At 2pm, Saturday, July 15, a memorial service will be held at Wilkinson Funeral Home chapel. The family will speak to friends following the service.
Ellen was born August 17, 1941, in Banner Elk, N.C. to Carl and Helen Benfield Eller. She graduated from University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in education.
Ellen taught elementary education at Coltrane Webb and Royal Oaks schools. She was active in the community and in later years, volunteering with the Salvation Army. She achieved a Master Gardener certification, was active in Book Club, and was in a social Bridge Club. She had many friends in the community and her neighborhood.
Throughout the years, Ellen had a deep love for travel. She and her late husband, Frank, enjoyed travelling and visited all fifty states. They travelled extensively in Europe with their last trip being Australia/New Zealand.
Ellen and Frank spent many years splitting their time between Lake Norman and Banner Elk, NC. She was very devoted to her family and spent many hours of quality time with her grandchildren.
Survived by six children, Gerald MacClamrock and wife, Carol, of Hudson, Carla MacClamrock of Raleigh, Misty Hudson of Hendersonville, Randy Rush of Orlando, FL, Candice MacClamrock and Brian Morgan of Concord, and Lauren McInnis and husband, Terry, of Concord; 11 grandchildren, Clint Scarborough and wife, Brooke, Brittany Rush, Camille Corbett, Cathryn Corbett, Randy Rush Jr., Madison Walker, Chase Corbett, Walker Hudson, Austin McInnis, Reid Morgan and Violet MacClamrock; and four great-grandchildren.
