Mr. Edward Earl Ballard, 79, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Five Oaks Manor, with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, officiated by Rev. Buster Pigg. The family will greet friends following the service.
Ed was born on May 25, 1943 in Concord, NC to the late Alice Staton Ballard and Cletus Earl Ballard.
First and foremost, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ed loved to witness to everyone he met and never met a stranger. He was a 1961 graduate of Concord High School and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He loved collecting record albums and 45s and had a booth at Gibson Mill where he sold his records and made many lifelong friends along the way. Ed was also a DJ for many years, playing music for many school dances, birthdays, and weddings. He had worked for UPS, Wal-Mart, Neese’s, and the Cabarrus County Transportation Services.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 58 years, Nancy Earnhardt Ballard; daughters, Cindy Barringer and husband, Tim of Concord, Stephanie Johnson and husband, Doug of Enochville, Kristy Simpson and husband, Jimmy of Concord; sister, Anita Wyatt and husband, Alex of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren, Kayla Furr and husband, Johnathan of Norwood, Justin Shore, Noah Simpson, Nickolas Simpson, all of Concord; great-grandchildren, Haven Furr, Macie Furr, Oaklynn Shore, Raelynn Shore.
