Mrs. Edna Strickland Alexander, 80, of Harrisburg passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 in her home.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bobby Tallent officiating. The family will receive friends from 11am to 12 noon prior to the service. Burial will be at 2:30 pm in Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.
She was born in Columbus County on January 4, 1937 to the late Cliffton and Kate Green Strickland.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Edna knew two things about her—she loved the Lord and she loved her family. She was a nurturer by nature and loved to care for the ones she loved, especially her children and grandchildren.
When she wasn’t caring for others, you would find her out gardening and tending her flowers or in the kitchen—she was an amazing cook. She worked for many years as the manager at Martin’s Family Restaurant and her country style steak was, hands down, the best you had ever had.
Left to cherish her memories are son, Chris Alexander and wife, Wynn; son, Monty Alexander; grandchildren, Shane Alexander, Joshua Alexander, and Brittany Alexander; great-grandchildren, Kylie Jay Moore, Jaxon David Dain Alexander, Ian Harkey, Neveah Nicole Gregory, Emaleigh Harkey, and Madison Alexander; sisters, Barbara Helms and Vicky Strickland; and brothers, R.C. Strickland, Thomas Strickland, and Ricky Strickland.
