Edith Irene Honeycutt McLester, 94, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior, and her beloved husband, January 28, 2018. She was married to Aubrey McLester for almost 60 years before his passing December 27, 2012.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 10 to 10:45 am at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Carolina Memorial Park at 11 am with Rev. Jim Posey officiating.
Born May 10,1923, Edith was built solid of resilience and toughness. A giver by nature, you never left her home empty handed. Her public work included various roles in the hosiery mill.
Those left to cherish the memory of her life are goddaughter, Susan Greene Standish and godson, Dennis Greene; half-brother, Bob Stahlman, along with cousin, Doris Fulcher; sister-in-law, Josephine McLester Smith; niece, Pamela Killian; nephews, Steven Smith, Raye Stone, Randy Stone and Rex Stone.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the team of caregivers who made it possible for her to remain in her home. Edith became especially close to caregiver, Audra Beaver whom she called “Miss America”. It was a unique relationship that made Edith feel safe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081, so they many continue their service of offering a place of tranquility.
