Dorothy Cochran Barbee, 93, of Concord passed from this earthly life to her heavenly life on Tuesday, August 6,2024 surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born on January 19,1931 in North Carolina to the late Andrew Cochran and the late Donnie L. Cochran. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Curtis Eugene Cochran “Turk” Jerry Wayne Cochran and a sister Lorene Cochran.
She worked at Kayser Roth Hosiery Mill and retired from the Dietary Department at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. Dorothy “Dot” had a servant’s heart and a spirit of hospitality. She loved everyone she met and was quick to give a hug or fix them something to eat. She demonstrated 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 and loved unconditionally. She loved Roberta Church and enjoyed working at the hotdog sales with her church family. She was known for her Roberta Slaw, Swiss Chocolate Cake, and fresh coconut cakes. She and her husband Ray were honored with the “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
She had a million-dollar smile and will be missed by all. She leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years Ray Barbee and their 3 daughters: Pam Barbee, Kim Shue (Mitchell) and Donna Taylor (Roger); 4 grandchildren, Mark Robbins (Candace), Andrew Shue (Kasey), Ryne Robbins (Kristen), Austin Shue (Kelsey); 12 great grandchildren, her sister Hazel Furr (Kenneth) and numerous nieces and nephews. She held a special place in her heart for Doug and Katrina Brennan and Barry and Dawn Roberson.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, August 10,2024 with the funeral following at Roberta Church located at 3925 Cochran Road, Concord, N.C. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Chad Irons and Rev. Andrew Shue.
