Delphina Foil Penninger

Delphina Foil Penninger, 98, of Concord, was granted her final wish Wednesday, January 18, 2017 when she met her Lord and Savior face to face. She passed away at her home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3 p.m., at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Wes Judy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home, and at her home the remaining time.
She was born on February 8, 1918 in Cabarrus County to Charles Homer and Carrie Foil. In addition to her parents, Delphina was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Claude J. Penninger; two sons, Claude Penninger, Jr., and Dale L. Penninger.
Delphina enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother and best “Me-Maw” any grandchild could have. Her favorite past-times were working crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and loved to square dance in her younger years. Delphina was the oldest living member at Mt. Olivet UMC. She loved her church and church family. She was a member of the Ada Dayvault Circle and Lora Goodman Sunday School Class.
Delphina was survived by her children, Charles Michael Penninger (Carolyn), June P. Snyder (David) and Dottie P. Simmons (Ralph). She has 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mom’s Hospice nurse, Jennifer Moose, for the excellent care and love she gave Mom. She was not only a blessing to Mom but to June and Dottie as well. Thanks to her wonderful caregivers and Dr. Rackoff and Dr. Williams.
