Dean “Yogi” Alan Warber

March 13, 1957 — April 6, 2024

Dean “Yogi” Alan Warber passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 as a result of an automobile accident.

Yogi was born March 13, 1957, in Sycamore, IL to the late Howard Laverne Warber and Esther Marie Schmitt Warber.

Yogi attended Sycamore High School and was an extremely talented athlete. He played varsity baseball, basketball and was the quarterback for the football team. Later in his life Yogi grew a passion for golf and would play several times a week.

Yogi had an accomplished career with Footlocker which started in Bridgeview, IL and brought him and his family to Urbandale, IA and Concord, NC. His love and passion for sports helped him excel in his career.

Yogi married in 1979. Two years later he had his first son Brock and in 1988 he welcomed twin boys Tyler and Troy. He loved his sons and would always take time to attend their sporting events.

After his retirement Yogi would spend his time putting on the golf course, playing with his son’s grandkids, shooting pool and playing poker with friends. Yogi had a competitive nature and would always challenge others to competitions for small stakes.

Yogi is survived by sons Brock Warber and wife Joanna of Chesapeake, VA, Troy Warber and wife Kirsten of Concord, and Tyler Warber and wife Calan of Statesville; grandchildren Logan, Emma, Ava, Ash, Harper, and Sawyer Warber; brother Dennis Warber and wife Suzanne of Sycamore, IL; and other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Corey Alley. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
