Mrs. Dean Williams Helmintoller, 76, of Concord, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Her departure leaves a profound sense of loss, but her memory will forever be cherished.
A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Bill Cone. The family will receive friends on June 29 from 12-2 at the home of Doug and Kerri Penley, 338 Sunnyside Dr SE, Concord NC, 28025
Dean was born on October 6, 1946, in Spencer, NC, to the late Lucille Owens Williams and Henry Williams. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, L. Joe Helmintoller, who shared a lifetime of love and companionship with her.
Dean's passion for education guided her throughout her life. She obtained her education at N. Rowan High School and St. Andrews College before earning her Doctorate in Education from UNCC. She taught math for many years in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and later as the Principal in Kannapolis School System. Dean’s commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning made a long lasting impact on the lives of countless students.
Dean found joy in spending time with her family at their Lake Tillery Home. The cherished moments shared there created lasting bonds and treasured memories. Dean also enjoyed the camaraderie of playing card games with her dear friends.
Dean is survived by her daughters, Kerri H. Penley and her husband, Doug of Concord, and Angie H. Huntley and her husband, Kevin of Salisbury. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Zac Huntley and his wife Sloane, Joseph Penley, and John Penley, who were a constant source of pride and joy in her life.
