David Edward Kirk

CONCORD- David E. “Hawkshaw” Kirk, 71 passed away at the Levine- Dickson Hospice House on May 24, 2018.
A 3pm Sunday graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Ed Hall officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3pm.
Hawkshaw was one of six children born to Lewis Edward and June Evelyn Beamon Kirk. He was born in Cabarrus County on January 26, 1947. He attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. He retired from Concrete Supply after 40 years. In past years, he was a drag racer and enjoyed horseback riding and racing horses. He was a simple man who liked to work and spend time with his late wife, Frances, who passed away 2015. They were race fans and appreciated the time they got to spend with family. He always planted a garden and generously shared his produce.
Mr. Kirk is survived by his sister, Pat Thomas and her husband, Walter “Cooter” of Concord; brothers, Mike Kirk and wife Gale of Ritchfield, Gene Kirk and wife Sandra of Lancaster, Kenneth Kirk and wife Brenda of Mt. Pleasant, and Jeff Kirk and wife Sue of Locust; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr., Huntersville, NC 28078.
