Daniel Lloyd Garmon

February 6, 1926 — June 30, 2016

Mr. Daniel Lloyd Garmon age 90 passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 30, 2016.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Garmon will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Forest Hill United Methodist Church-Historic Sanctuary, with Rev. Mandy Jones and Rev. Suzanne Dornsmith officiating. An inurnment with military honors will follow in the church columbarium.

Mr. Garmon was born February 6, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Daniel Stewart Garmon and Ora Morrison Garmon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Morgan Garmon and one sister, Doris “Dot” Shanks.

Lloyd was a graduate of Concord High School, Lenoir Rhyne and Pfeiffer College. He served our country in the US Army during WWII, having received a purple heart from wounds he suffered in Germany. Lloyd was president and owner of Massey Septic Tank Company in Concord, until his retirement. He was a long time member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church where he was active in various roles of the church. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Brown and husband, Tony of Concord, Barbara Stoudenmire of Concord, Della Haigler and husband, Mitchell of Midland and Margaret Brewer and husband, Chris of Huntersville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Beth Ashford of Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to the Caregivers Fund of Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 265 Union Street N, Concord, NC 28025.
