Cynthia Joyner

September 4, 1950 — October 8, 2017

CONCORD- Cynthia Faggart Joyner, 67 passed away in the early morning of October 8, 2017.
A receiving of friends will be held from 5:30 to 7pm Tuesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Cindy entered this world on September 4, 1950 in Concord. She was the daughter of F.M. and Elizabeth H. Faggart. She attended Odell School until school consolidation sent her to Northwest Cabarrus High School where she graduated in 1968. She was married at the age of 17 to Bobby J. Joyner, a marriage that lasted 11 ½ years. In June of 1970 Cindy became a mother- welcoming her only child, Rusty Joyner. She was a working mother who used her great sewing skills at her job at Terry Products where she created infant apparel. After taking a year off to be a stay-at-home mother she decided to go back to school the same time her son began first grade. She then started her 40 year career as a hairdresser. She made many friends and enjoyed working with people. She enjoyed activities at home like growing flowers and she was a very good cook when she wanted to be. The roles in life she cherished the most were being a mother to Rusty, a mother-in-law to Lori, and a proud grandmother to Caylee Joyner and Jozua Joyner.
Reminiscing was something that always provided Cindy comfort. She talked about her high school friends, Idiot Circle, Frye’s Lake, and her teen jobs at Stop and Shop and Grants Department Store. She liked to talk fondly about her grandparents, Zeb Vance and Mazie Campbell Heglar and John Littleberry and Carrie Bost Faggart. She replayed stories of when her husband went away to serve in the Vietnam War. She enjoyed the humorous tales of when her son and grandchildren were young. Cindy liked to talk about learning to sew very well from her mother-in-law, Martha T. Joyner, and staying up late with her making clothes and talking. She made her granddaughter’s christening gown by hand. She still talked about watching Betty Feezor on WBTV. Hearing these stories and many others will be greatly missed.
