Mr. Clyde Marshall Ritchie, age 86 passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House, surrounded by his loving wife and co-workers.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Thursday, July 20 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A service of celebration will be held 11:00 am Friday, July 21 at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Simpson and Donnie Floyd, Hendrick MRO Chaplain officiating. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall for family and friends.
Mr. Ritchie was born April 18, 1931 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Emery Foy Ritchie and Addie Wray Ritchie. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Phillips and a nephew, Lionel Phillips.
Clyde was a 1950 graduate of Hartsell High School and served our country in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He retired from Pilot Freight Carriers and was currently employed with Hendrick Motor Sports. Clyde always had a love for NASCAR and NHRA racing, and his job with Hendrick was a dream come true. He had 28 years of service with Hendrick until his illness disallowed him to work. He certainly will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deon Gray Ritchie, with whom he would have celebrated 52 years together in August; brother, Hubert Ritchie and wife, Peggy; nephew, Dale Ritchie and wife, Johnna; niece, Dean Phillips Lee and husband, David; brother-in-law, Nesbit Phillips, brother-in-law, Michael Gray and wife, Mary Bost Gray; several great-nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
