Mr. Clayton Clifford Kepley Sr. of Union Street – South passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his home.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Mandy Jones. Military rites will be conducted by Hank Robson, Chaplin USMC and the U.S. Marine Corps. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Clayton was born January 31st , 1924 in Concord to the late Lawrence C. Kepley and Ollie Lefler Kepley. He retired from Bigger Brothers as a night superintendent and was a member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church. Clayton was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He fought on Iwo Jima and Saipan, receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his actions in combat.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Mauldin Kepley; son, Clayton C. Kepley II, daughters, Elizabeth Kepley Shuping, Suzanne Kepley Hall and sister, Betty Kepley Johnsey.
