Chrisine Sehorn

February 17, 1930 — June 8, 2017

Bertie Christine Nichols Sehorn, aged 87, passed away on June 8, 2017, while on a family vacation in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Allen and Christina Repoley M.Div. officiating. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall after the service.

Christine was born on February 17, 1930, in Taylors, SC, to Susie Orr Nichols and Rufus Joab Nichols. Her childhood was spent mostly in Taylors, SC, and Cleveland, Tennessee. Her family moved to Kannapolis, NC, to help run the Church of God Orphanage. It was there that she met the love of her life, Charlie Harmon Sehorn. He worked on the orphanage farm, and she would bring him lemonade when she wasn’t driving the orphanage bus. Christine graduated from Winecoff High School in 1946 and continued working in the sheet department of Cannon Mills for many years. She and Harmon married on May 17, 1952. In addition to being a loving, devoted wife and mother, Christine worked as secretary of their family business, Hallmark Homes, in Concord. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

Christine was a woman of style and substance, always fashionable and beautiful, both inside and out. She set an example for making health and fitness a priority, as evidenced by her volunteer work at Beverly Hills School, leading exercises for the children on the playground. She hiked up the mountains and modeled down the runway, always in matching lipstick and nails, often magenta! She had so much fun with her 6 grandchildren, entertaining them with funny stories, walks on the farm, splashes in the pool, clowning, singing and laughing,

She enjoyed traveling around the United States, especially to North Myrtle Beach and Missoula, Montana. She and Charlie will never forget the mission trip to Mexico, where they worked alongside other Methodist Church volunteers, building a church. She brought beauty wherever she went.

Christine was preceded in death by her 4 brothers, Harold Chandler, Herbert Nichols, Ernest Nichols and Rufus “Nick” Nichols, and her sister Earline Cook. Her sister, Ruby Nolan, passed 3 days after Christine. She is survived by her sister, Jackie Nichols, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and sisters-in-law Gin Chandler and Clarideen Nichols, both of South Carolina.

Christine leaves behind her beloved husband, Charlie Harmon Sehorn, her son Mike Sehorn and his wife Kathy, of Missoula, Montana, daughters Sheela Repoley of Asheville, NC and Nancee Propst and husband Mike, of Concord, NC.

Christine loved her large family and was loved by all in return, especially her grandchildren: Willie Repoley (wife Sarai) of Asheville NC, Christina Repoley (husband Dean Leeper) of Atlanta, Georgia, Ashley Sehorn of New Orleans, Louisiana, Travis Sehorn of Palermo, Maine, Ross Propst and Susan Propst Matthews (husband Timmy) of Concord, NC.

Christine was great grandmother ”Granny” to 4 greats: Kathryn and Bertie Repoley of Asheville, and Harmon and Dela Leeper of Atlanta. She leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the First Responders of North Myrtle Beach and the doctors and nurses of Grand Strand Medical Center.

Memorials may be made to these organizations, which were dear to Christine’s heart: Habitat for Humanity of Missoula, P.O. Box 7181, Missoula, MT 59807 or the Shriners Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
