Dr. Charles Spiro Vishnia Telly, 90, of Concord, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at his home, with his family by his side.
Charles, “Chuck,” was born on May 22, 1932, in Jamestown, NY to first-generation Albanian immigrants, Leo Spiro and Margaret Vishnia Telly. Charles was always extremely proud of his heritage and was honored to be the first born American-Albanian of his family.
Charles graduated from Jamestown High School in 1950 and pursued his undergraduate studies at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. After graduating from Williams he moved on to the University of Buffalo Law School. After obtaining his law degree he continued to further his education at Columbia, the University of Washington, and the University of Arizona where he earned Phds in business and philosophy.
Throughout his life, he educated young minds at Universities across the country. Finally, in the late 80s, he settled down at SUNY Fredonia where he taught law and business for 27 plus years. He finally retired in May 2017. After retirement, he moved to Tucson Az, and then in August 2020, he moved to Concord NC to live close to family.
He was an active Senior group member at West Concord Baptist Church. In his free time, he loved to read, write, watch war documentaries and spend time with family. He is survived by his daughter Bethany A. Mills and son-in-law Scott A. Mills; sister Irene Telly Harris, and seven beautiful grandchildren: Christopher Piccirillo, Zachary Piccirillo, Breanna Bennett, Corban Mills, Marcella Piccirillo, Charlie Piccirillo, and Samuel Mills.
Charles was laid to rest at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Jamestown, NY on June 4, 2022.
His Ceremony of Life Service will be held on June 25, 2022, at 2 pm at West Concord Baptist Church.
