Charles Marion Isenhour

June 19, 1941 — April 17, 2019

Charles M. Isenhour (Charlie Boy) departed this earth on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019. He was born on June 19th, 1941. At that time, his birth mother did not have the resources to support him, and he was given up for adoption to The Childrens Home Society in Greensboro North Carolina. This is where he found his true Mother and Father, Marion Franklin and Nellie Kennedy Isenhour. They adopted him, raised him, took him to church, and taught him to love god.

Charlie was a lifelong member of Westford Methodist Church, where he served many leadership roles. He served his church by being a member of the administrative board, a Scout Liaison Leader, Usher, Greeter, Kitchen Committee, Member of the Methodist Men, and the Ken Austin Sunday School Class.

Charlie also served the community as a volunteer Fireman for the Poplar Tent Fire Department for seventeen Years. For fifteen years he also served many roles for the Cabarrus County Rescue Squad, including Chief and Captain. Charlie loved to share his time by helping others, one of his favorite things to do was to play Santa Clause for the children at the local hospitals children’s ward, church parties and nursing homes.

Most people will remember Charlie as a weekend racer at local dirt tracks in the south east. He ran his last race on Saturday, September 18th, 2004 in the dirt late model series, where he finished third. He enjoyed competing in demolition derbies and won several titles over the years. He is still the current Roll Over Competition Champion for the Concord Speedway and the Dirt Track of Charlotte. He was also a member of several auto clubs. Charlie boy loved old cars, especially the fast ones. Every spring and fall you could find him at the Food Lion Auto Fair in Charlotte, where he would buy, sell and trade auto parts. Usually he would have a story to tell about something that happened that happened during those long four-day weekends. He was also known as “Turn-Em-Over-Charlie" (By his racing friends at the track)

Charlie Boy was a long time regular at the “Across the Creek Gang Party”, held the second Tuesday in August each year. Most of the “Old Critters” attended the Old Hartsell and Harrisburg Schools.

Charlie Boy really enjoyed the new friends he made at the “Shack Out Back” at Ray Furr’s house for the monthly get together for the past couple years. The food was great and the “Fellas” were some of the best friends he ever had. A special thankyou to all of the “Roberta fishermen” for letting him be a part of it, it was a good ride.

After cannon mills, plant 6 closed, Charlie became owner/operator of C&M Towing in Concord NC, until he retired in 2010. Since that time, he has enjoyed camping at the beach with his family, and has developed a special love for cats and dogs.

We would like to thank Doctor James Wall, Doctor Kunish for their care with my health.

He is survived by his wife Mary Furr Isenhour, his step daughters Paula Clark, Lisa Bolton, and Rona
Moore, and his step son Ronnie Grissom. He also leaves behind Mr. Harley, Boo Boo, Mrs. Priss (cats) and his canine T-Bone.
