Charles Ray Goodman

Charles Ray Goodman, 91 passed away at his home on August 17, 2018 with his wife by his side.

Funeral services will be at 12 pm Monday, August 20, 2018 at McGill Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Ayers officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 12 pm at the church. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Ray was born May 20, 1927 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of William Clifford and Ola Litaker Goodman. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Goodman.

Ray was a graduate of Concord Senior High School and was a WWII veteran of the US Navy. After the Navy, he attended Evans Business College.

Ray was a member of McGill Baptist Church, having served as a deacon and a member of Trinity Sunday School class. He was an active member of the McGill Hot Dog Crew and loved participating in the fund raisers for his church at UNCC basketball and football games.

Ray’s lifelong profession was an Accountant. After working in the public accounting field, he ventured out to start his own business and worked with his clients until 3 ½ years ago. He loved his profession and just as much, loved his clients and making lifelong friends. A former member of the Cabarrus Masonic Lodge, he was also a Scottish Rite of the 32nd degree and an Oasis Shriner. He served as past president of Cabarrus Shrine Club.

Ray enjoyed working in the yard and small projects around the house. He was talented in wood working and liked to share his handy work with friends. Myrtle Beach was where Ray and Frances loved to spend relaxing time away with family and friends. Ray always had a smile on his face and a good joke to tell. He never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on those that he met.

Survivors include his loving wife, Frances Osborne Goodman; daughters, Susan Lowdermilk and husband, Jeffery of Brandenton, FL and Lisa C. George and husband, Patrick of Clarksburg, WV; son, Mark Caton and wife, Frances of Concord; grandchildren, Ashley Lowdermilk, Nicholas, Jacob and Benjamin George.

Memorials may be made to McGill Baptist Church, 5300 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC 28027.
