CONCORD- Charles Ray Furr, 80, passed away at Atrium Cabarrus on February 21, 2023.
There will be no public funeral services.
Charles Ray was the only child born to Ray E. And Margaret Armstrong Furr. He was born in Cabarrus County on December 7, 1942. He was a lifelong resident of Concord having spent most of his life in the area around Kerr Street. He graduated from Concord High School 1962 where he was the drum major of the marching band. After high school he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He performed and entertained servicemen through his work in the USO. Charles Ray’s larger-than-life personality was magnified by his sense of humor and his love for dancing. He will be fondly remembered by his career as an interior decorator, the decorating classes he facilitated, and the garden club tours he coordinated for many years. Though his remaining family only consists of first cousins and their families he also leaves behind special longtime friends and many acquaintances throughout the community.
