Carolyn Pauley Perry, 93, passed away on August 23, 2024. She was a resident of Concord, NC for the past seventeen years, most recently at Taylor Glen. She was born in Charleston, WV, the daughter of William E. and Janetta Pauley. In 1949,she graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. As an adult, she lived in Charleston, Tazwell, VA and Richmond, VA.
She went to nursing school when her youngest child started kindergarten and went on to become a nurse anesthetist. She worked for many years at Richmond Eye and Ear Hospital.
She is survived by her brother, William E. Pauley, Jr. of Lillington, NC. She had five children, Anne Shoaf of Chesapeake, VA, Dan Saunders (Liz) of Delaware City, DE, Ellen Faust (Pete) of Concord, NC, Flint Perry (Scott) of Snow Hill, MD, and Elizabeth Cifers (Gene) of Moseley, VA. She had nine grandchildren, Kristin Shoaf, Sara Burnette, Will Shoaf, PJ Faust, Laura Faust, Janet Saunders, Curtis Saunders, Kyle Hesford and Erin Reamer. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, Isabel, Noah, and Jeremiah Pavlik, Sam and Jake Burnette, Lucy Shoaf, Fischer Mattingly, Emma and Natalie Nida, Quin and Roan Faust, Lennon and Finley Reamer, and John Saunders.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Concord. A celebration of life will be held there on Saturday,September 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM. The family will greet friends following the service in Davis Hall.
