Mrs. Carolyn Blackwelder Morrison, age 85 of Concord, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm Sunday, January 30 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3 pm with Rev. Jesse Watkins officiating. A private burial will be held for the family.
Carolyn was born May 18, 1936 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Lawson and Clara Barringer Blackwelder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John D. “Bud” Morrison, Jr., siblings, Ruth (Sis) Yates, Bill and Ray Blackwelder, and her collies, Rose and Sassy.
Carolyn retired as co-owner of John D. Morrison Builders and was a member of Friendship Southern Baptist Church. She served for many years on the bereavement committee, having helped prepare many a meal for families. She was known for her famous potato salad, deviled eggs, and sweet tea had to be made fresh every day. Carolyn was another mother and grandmother to so many, loving to spoil each one in her own way. We will never forget the many memories of this dear lady, and will always remember her signature hair style, orange lipstick and Estee Lauder scent.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving son, John “Dwight” Morrison, III; sister, Thelma (Snook) Yow; brother, Homer Blackwelder; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends who will miss Carolyn dearly.
Special thanks go out to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte and Brookdale Assisted Living for their loving care to Carolyn these last few months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, P.O. Box 470408, Charlotte, NC 28247.
