CONCORD- Carol Burrage Calloway passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 20, 2024, following a brief illness.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 22 at Wilkinson Funeral Home from 5:00- 7:00pm. The funeral service will be Sunday, June, 23 at 3:00pm at Forest Hill United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mandy Neill and Rev. Justin P. Snyder officiating.
Carol was born October 3, 1934 in Concord to the late Lloyd and Louise Burrage. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leonard Calloway, and sister, Linda B. McPherson.
Carol was a 1953 graduate of Concord High School and was an avid spider fan for her entire life. She married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Calloway in 1955. He was still the love of her life even with his death in 2009. Together for 54 years, they raised 3 children and made memories with family beach trips, traveling around the US and being snowbirds in Florida. Her love of the outdoors was evident by her yard full of flowers. As she would say, “I love digging in the dirt!” She was a lifelong member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church. She loved her church and was active in many activities through the years.
She is survived by her adoring children, Debra C. Burke (Dwain) of Milford, MI, David Calloway (Tana) of Ocean Isle Beach, and Christi C. Long (Donnie) of Midland; beloved granddaughters, Megan L. Furr (Jordan) of Midland, Katie C. Watson (Matt) of Wilmington, and Paige C. Francis (Josh) of Charlotte; great-granddaughters, Mallorie Furr, Larkin and Lenna Watson.
