Carlos Flynn

April 15, 1950 — January 22, 2022

Carlos Antonio Flynn, 71, a long-term resident of Cabarrus County, North Carolina, passed away, with his wife by his side, on January 22, 2022 after a battle with lung cancer.

Carlos was the youngest of 11 children born to Bernardo Flynn and Ana Gulle de Flynn. He was born in Mercedes, Argentina in 1950 and married the love of his life, E. Jorgelina Domecq, in 1975. He graduated from the University of La Plata, earning his degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1984. Carlos opened his first Veterinary practice in Villa Elisa, Argentina, where he remained in practice until 1988, when he Immigrated with his wife and 5 children to the United States in pursuit of a better life. After several years in the United States, Carlos renewed his DVM license and returned to practicing veterinary medicine. He opened the doors of his first Banfield The Pet Hospital in 1999, franchising on University City Blvd in Charlotte, NC. Experiencing much success, he expanded in 2008, opening his second franchised Banfield The Pet Hospital location in Charlotte at Northlake Mall. He retired from veterinary practice in 2015 having loved and cared for many pets, their families, and staff as his own.

Carlos embodied the spirit of an entrepreneur, forever enthusiastic about opportunity. After retiring, Carlos started several business ventures to help his children. Additionally, he fulfilled his dream of making artisan sausages and established The Flynns Farm in Concord, NC. Having never forgotten where he came from, Carlos often returned to Argentina to visit family and friends. Coupling his love for Argentina and his drive for business, Carlos invested in remodeling and rebuilding Hotel Monet in Mar del Plata. To continue Carlos’ legacy and honor his entrepreneurial spirit, Carlos’ wife and children will continue to operate The Flynns Farm, as well as other ventures.

Carlos and Jorgelina’s greatest pride and joy in life are their five children and 7 grandchildren. They placed a large emphasis on education as the foundation for future success of their children and grandchildren. Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Carlos knew that his family was of the utmost importance and the sole driving force for all he did. Time spent in his presence would most certainly mean being an audience to prideful sharing of stories about his grandchildren, their most recent accomplishments, and their exciting adventures.

Carlos is preceded in death by his parents and 6 of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, E. Jorgelina Flynn, five children Maria E. Aydt and husband Chris R. Aydt, Mario M. Flynn, Raul H. Flynn and fiancé Susie Redfearn, Jonatan Flynn and wife Jennifer Pool, and Carlos M. Flynn, 7 grandchildren, four siblings Juan Flynn, Ricardo Flynn, Elida Flynn and Delia Flynn, as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Carlos will always be remembered for his robust laugh, his larger-than-life personality, his unending love and loyalty to family and friends, and his generosity to others.

Carlos’ family will host a celebration of life party to welcome family and friends on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 6:00-8:30pm at The Luxe Room, 1774 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis NC 28083. Masks are optional.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Dr. Carlos A. Flynn. Carlos has been an avid supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for years. He was always touched by what St. Jude does for children battling cancer and their families. Honoring his memory through a St. Jude donation would be greatly appreciated by The Flynn family.
