Rev. Carl David Overcash of Concord went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 13 beginning at 11:00 am at Universal House of Prayer, 2999 Eva Drive. A celebration of Carl’s life will be at 11:30 am at the church officiated by longtime friend, Rev. Randy Lefler. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Carl was born December 22, 1937 in Concord to the late Clyde Henry and Evelyn Nesbitt Overcash. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris Hurt Overcash, sister, Mary Helen Overcash, and brothers, Earl, Clyde “JR”, Ira, and Robbie Overcash.
Carl’s priorities in life were, #1 his love of the Lord, he loved preaching and singing God’s praises, #2 spending time with his family, and #3 fishing. He loved sitting on the pier fishing all day. Carl always told everyone “a bad day of fishing is better than a good day home”.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Carl Overcash, Jr., and daughter, Debbie Crites and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Michelle Allman and husband, David, Michael Crites and wife, Erin, Slade Overcash, and Trent Overcash; great grandchildren, Dylan, Kelsey, and Kaylee Allman and Luna Crites; brothers, Jesse Overcash of Kannapolis, and Cliff Overcash of Texas; sisters-in-law, Ella Bailey, Judy McGill, and Louise Rhodes, all of Knoxville, TN.; along with loving family friends, J.T. and Liz Tarlton, and Gerald and Susan Treece.
