Our precious Carl Henry Kellis Jr, 58 of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina passed away on August 19th unexpectantly. He was on a trip with his soul mate at a place that they both loved named paradise beach in Cozumel, Mexico. There he took his two final breaths. The first breath was his last breath on earth, and the second breath was his first breath in the true paradise, Heaven.
Carl was born on July 5th, 1964, to his father, Carl Henry Kellis Sr. & mother, Rachel Nance Kellis. Carl graduated high school from Central Cabarrus, and then went on to graduate from Western Carolina University. Carl was a shop teacher for many years and then went on to becoming a general contractor.
Carl met his soulmate, Lisa when she was a nurse caring for Carl Sr and always said that God put them together. Together, Carl and Lisa have two children, Tyler Kellis, and his wife Christa along with Whitney Swofford and her husband, Chris. They also have four beautiful grandchildren where he held his most loving role as “Poppy” or “Pop-Pop”. They are Annabella Kellis, Everette Kellis, Olivia Swofford & Thomas Swofford.
Carl has one sister, Teresa Abernathy, her husband Tim, and daughter Kayla. He also has one brother, Kenneth Kellis, his wife Melissa, and daughter Journey.
Carl had many hobbies that he loved such as fishing, camping, and working outside. However, the most important thing to him was his Lord and Savior. Second was his family who meant everything to him. Carl also loved mission work where he did many trips to foreign countries. Lastly, he loved Jesus and construction. He loved sharing the gospel and he could build just about anything. He said it always blessed him more than the people he did the work for.
Carl made such an impact to so many people's lives and his legacy will continue to make an even bigger impact. We still do not understand why he was taken from us, but we have peace knowing that he did not suffer, and he is getting to experience what we all hope and pray to enjoy in heaven one day. Carl is in heaven with his mother and father.
Visitation will be held at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord, NC on Thursday August 25 from 5-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 5340 Flowes Store Road, Concord, NC Friday August 26 @ 2:00pm.
