Caitlyn Gable

December 3, 2001 — August 9, 2022

Caitlyn (Cait) Victoria Gable, 20, of Concord, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday the 9th of August 2022.

She was the daughter of Jessica Dorton (Michael) Williams and Dave (Kristin) Gable. She will be greatly missed by her brother Ethan Gable, sisters Kaitlyn (Kiki) Gable and Taylor (Ryan) Strauss, her uncle "Bubba" Daniel Dorton (Crystal), and her aunts Laurie (Chip) Turner and Mirella and Elena Gable. Many others were an important part of her life: grandparents "Nana" Dean Melton, Dennis (Judy) Dorton, Victoria Gable, and the late Nathan (Diana) Gable; great-aunts and uncles Deloris Morton (Lorsie), Kenneth (Linda) Dorton, Donnie (Wanda) Helms; also, her special boyfriend of 2.5 years, Jordan Nance. She was loved by all who knew her.

Caitlyn graduated from Concord High School in the IB Program class of 2020 where she was awarded both academic and athletic scholarships. She was a rising junior at Bluefield University in Virginia, where she played softball mainly as a 1st baseman. Over this summer she was able to fulfill her childhood dream to inspire young Girl Scouts as a camp counselor at the Keyauwee Program Center. She had a brilliant mind and she excelled both on and off the field.

Since the age of 7, Caitlyn always had a passion for softball. She played on several travel and American Legion teams that loved her for both her personality and playing skill. Cait played all 4 years of high school on the Concord High softball team. Her coach Charity Ballard played a key role for Caitlyn, supporting and inspiring her immensely. She had a strong passion for singing and karaoke; Cait sang the National Anthem at all of the Concord home games. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music, from Country Twang to her favorite Post Malone. She also enjoyed playing other sports, reading, crafting, archery and watching movies, in particular the Harry Potter series and Marvel Studios movies.

We will always remember Cait as the fiercely loyal, incredibly sweet, kind, all-inclusive, amazing soul that always wanted to support and welcome others.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Wilkinson Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm. A service to celebrate her life will follow in the chapel at 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the epilepsy foundation of North Carolina, in support with her lifelong battle with epilepsy (www.epilepsync.org), or to the Keyauwee Program Center for Girl Scouts of America (www.girlscoutsp2p.org/en/give/invest-in-girls.html).
