Mr. Bruce Vanstone Caughell of Gettysburg Drive, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his home.
His funeral will be 2 PM Wednesday at Kerr Street United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Jim Hood. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Bruce was born March 17, 1931 in Buffalo, NY to the late Robert Potter Caughell and Edith Beatrice Vanstone Caughell. He graduated from the University of Buffalo after serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. Bruce later worked and retired from I.B.M. as a programmer. He was a Mason, a member of the Order of the Scottish Rite and a member of Kerr Street UMC. Bruce enjoyed camping and volunteering with Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 61 years Geraldine “Gerry” Ball Caughell; sons, David Caughell and wife Gay of Harrisburg, and Douglas Caughell and wife Claudia of Kannapolis; daughters, Debbie Sloop and husband Carl of Concord, and Deanna Parker and husband Tim of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Christine Price, Matthew Parker, and Wesley Caughell; step grandchildren, Jason Hinson, Sarah Cooney, and Joshua Sellers; great grandchild, Airyana Price; and step great grandchildren, Meridith, Madison and Mya Hernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kerr Street UMC, 419 Kerr St. NW, Concord, NC 28025 or to Meals on Wheels, 1701 S. Main St., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
