CONCORD- Mr. Brian Keith Cook, a beloved member of the Concord community, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, surrounded by his loving family. Brian's memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate Brian's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Pitts Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Rev. Kevin Knight and Joel Ervin, offering an opportunity for friends and family to come together to remember and honor his life. Following the service, the family will be available to greet friends, sharing stories and memories of Brian. Service attendees are invited to wear Brian's favorite team color, Carolina Blue, to the memorial service if they wish.
Brian was born on December 21, 1968, in Concord, to the late Norma Jean Dancy Cook and Bobby Parks Cook. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly Kelly.
Brian's passion for education and sports led him to pursue a Bachelor's and Master's degree in education and sports management from Liberty University. He dedicated many years of his life to coaching high school basketball, where he made a positive impact on countless young athletes, helping them excel both on and off the court. In addition to his coaching career, Brian and his wife, Tonya, operated a small business together.
Brian's unwavering support for the UNC Tarheels was well-known among his friends and family. He cheered passionately for the Tarheels in basketball and football, always showing his dedication to the team.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Tonya Cohan Cook, and daughters, Katie Cook, Elizabeth Cook, sons, Andrew Cook, Nathan Cook, and Cameron Cook.
Brian's warm heart, dedication to education, and love for sports will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched.
