Brian Charles Cairns, 37, of Iron Station, NC passed away Saturday December 12, 2020.
Brian was born August 12, 1983 in Alton, IL to Charles D Cairns and Theresa Alben Cairns. He graduated from Central Cabarrus High School in 2001 and went on to study engineering at UNCC. Brian was first and foremost a family man. He never needed much in life, as long as they were happy, he was happy. He loved his family fiercely and loved being a husband and dad. Although quiet and reserved, he was loved by many for his positive personality and infectious smile. Brian had a lifelong passion for baseball, playing catcher for his high school team and several AAU travel-teams. He was passing this passion onto his daughter, teaching her how to be a catcher and bat left-handed, just as he did. He had dreams of passing this to his long-awaited son. Brian worked for Earnhardt Technologies Group as a Programmer/CNC Specialist for many years where he was respected by his co-workers, often being referred to as the “quiet giant” due to his quiet personality and tall stature. Brian loved spending time with his family outdoors, traveling, hiking/visiting the mountains and gardening. He was a huge fan of the St Louis Cardinals and wore their hats with pride. Brian had a couple of great friends he loved catching up with over a game of disc golf or a game of pool. He enjoyed cooking and teaching his daughter to cook. Brian was a self-taught guitar player, inspired by his favorite band, The Allman Brothers and guitar idol, Derek Trucks. He had a love for “good music”, always looking to discover something new, but appreciative of childhood favorites such as Lynard Skynard.
Brian is survived by his wife and best friend, Kerry Renee Cairns, their children – his whole world – Kylee Brooke Cairns (10) and Pete Charles Cairns (2); his parents whom he admired dearly, Charles and Theresa Cairns of Brighton, IL; his big sister and lifelong friend, Sara Tucker and her husband (the grill master) Michael Tucker and their children Daisy, Elijah and Grady, whom he loved as his own, all of Concord, NC; his in-laws and travel buddies Eddie and Mary Ellis of Conway, SC; and his brother-in-law Aaron Ellis of Concord, NC.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents whom he loved dearly, Sam and Hilda Alben and Charles (Pete) and Virginia Cairns, all of Brighton, IL.
