Billy “Bill” Edward Kluttz passed away on November 20, 2023 in Concord, NC. He was born in Concord, North Carolina on April 2, 1927 to Edward Charles Kluttz and Lucy Krimminger Kluttz.
At age thirteen, Bill’s father died unexpectedly at the family lumberyard. He dedicated the remainder of his life to continuing his family’s business. After serving in World War Two and attending NC State and Catawba College, he married his wife, Loyce Hileman Kluttz. Together, they managed B.E. Kluttz Lumber Company for more than fifty years. Bill lived to see the lumberyard celebrate its100th anniversary earlier this year.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife and three of his siblings: James Felix Kluttz, Edna Marie Green, and Lucy Virginia English.
Bill is survived by his sister Betty Ruth DeCell of New Orleans, LA; his three children, Billy Edward Kluttz Jr. of Freiburg, Germany, Carolyn Kluttz (and husband, Steve) of Charlotte, NC, and Edward Charles Kluttz (and wife, Pat) of Concord, NC; and his three grandchildren: Billy Edward Kluttz III, Edward Charles Kluttz III, and Ella Marie Smoak.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Central United Methodist Church in Concord, NC at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. A visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. A private interment for family will follow the service.
