On November 1, 2023, the world lost a courageous and honorable soul, Billy "Bill" Jackson Corzine, Sr., at the age of 83, at Concord Place. Bill, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud U.S. Marine veteran, left behind a legacy of dedication, service, and love.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Carolina Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Tam Wensil. Following the service, friends and family are invited to share their memories and support with one another.
Born on September 15, 1940, in Cabarrus County, Bill was the son of the late Annie Brines Corzine and John David Corzine. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wayne Corzine.
While at Concord High School, Bill excelled in athletics: he was co-captain and 4 year letterman of the football, basketball and baseball teams. Bill's early years were marked by his service to his country as a dedicated member of the U.S. Marines, where he proudly served from 1959 to 1963. During the Cuban Missile Crisis Bill lived in a foxhole in Cuba. Later, he pursued a career in trucking management for over 15 years with Roadway Express before transitioning into property management for his company CRE, where he excelled in his profession.
In addition to his successful career, Bill found his greatest joy in his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Jarvis Corzine of Concord; his sons, John "David" Corzine II and wife Patti of Concord, and Billy Jackson Corzine, Jr. and wife Amy of Port St. Joe, Florida; his cherished grandchildren, Mason E. Corzine and wife Catherine, Sidney "Alex" Corzine and special friend Andrew McCann, and Samantha Corzine, and Haley Corzine; great-grandson Grayson Cole Corzine; sister-in-law Jeanette Corzine; and nephew Dale Corzine and wife Melissa. In addition to his family, Bill loved his dogs and cats and spending time at his beach house in North Myrtle Beach.
Bill's legacy of service, dedication, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. As we mourn his passing, let us remember the bravery, honor, and love he shared with his family and community. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and guide. He will be deeply missed and remembered.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church, 1428 Old Charlotte Road, Concord, NC 28027.
