Bill Adam Wensil was surrounded by his wife and children when he went “home” to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Mr. Wensil was born on January 16, 1929, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to W. A. and Pearl Wensil. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold Wensil, Morris Wensil, and sisters Peggy W. Smith, and Florence W. Burris.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Florence Strube Wensil, daughter Bonnie W. Moose (Benny), son Billy Wensil (Laurie), daughter Freida W. Blake (Tommy), six grandchildren: Bonita M. Rowland (David), Benjie Moose (Susan), Eric Wensil, Adam Blake, Jonathan Wensil, Amanda B. Mitchell (Geoff), eight great grandchildren: Connor Rowland, Gavin Moose, Claire Rowland, Keegan Moose, Carter Rowland, Riley Wensil, Addison Blake, and Benjamin Wensil.
He retired from Bill Wensil and Sons Plumbing Company and B & W Construction Company in 2010. Bill loved plumbing and building houses, boating on the lake, swimming and jumping waves with the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at the beach, and he especially enjoyed hosting family gatherings. Prior to declining health, he was dedicated to his church and was actively involved as a trustee, Sunday School teacher, treasurer as well as many other offices during more than sixty years as a member of the Nazarene Church.
Bill is fondly remembered for his generous and grateful heart, and his family takes comfort in knowing that they will have a joyous reunion with him in heaven. He took pride in his work and his dependable work ethic taught his children and grandchildren the meaning of “hard work” and dedication. Whether at putt-putt, badminton, or foot races, he played to win, but always in a fun-filled and loving way. Bill made it a priority to be present for family members at games, special events, birthday celebrations, and always with a loving smile, joyful disposition, and kind-hearted humor.
“His Master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.’” –Matthew 25:21
